The status system
These five labels are the only ones used across the site.
Rumored
Reported but not confirmed. The item names a current club and a rumored next club, and nothing about the move is treated as settled.

Tracked but unresolved. Reserved for items the snapshot flags as watched without a reported destination or progress.

Negotiation in progress according to the source data. This label is never applied on inference, momentum or volume of reporting.

Sourcing rules

Every deal, rumor, club and destination on this site comes from a single fixed data snapshot embedded in the build. The desk does not browse, poll feeds or refresh values in the background. If the snapshot does not contain a field, the field is not displayed.
A confirmed dossier shows the player, the club they left, the club they joined and the fee or deal type as recorded. Where the record states "permanent transfer", "free transfer" or "loan made permanent", that is exactly what we print. We do not convert a deal type into an estimated fee, and we do not attach dates the snapshot does not hold.
Rumor items are always written as "Player — currently at CURRENT CLUB, rumored to join NEXT CLUB." The club named as a destination is always the rumored next club, never the current club. Where the snapshot lists two possible destinations, both are printed together and neither is favoured. The two-sentence profile attached to each rumor covers playing strengths, style and market value only.
No odds, probabilities or betting content. No invented fees, dates or quotes. No injuries, lineups, tactical claims, historical records, rankings, weather, attendance or ticketing information. No predictions about moves beyond the snapshot, and no official club logos, competition marks, player portraits or press photography.
The snapshot states that the 2026 summer window is active in major European leagues and closes in early September. Because no exact deadline date and time are recorded, the Deadline Watch module publishes the stated close window and openly notes the missing timestamp instead of running an invented countdown.
An item only changes lane when the snapshot itself changes. A rumor does not become advanced because it is widely reported, and it does not become rejected because it goes quiet. When a corrected snapshot is published, the board, the club room and the transfer log are rebuilt together so that counts never disagree across pages.
